About

Beth is a philosopher-artist, theorist and writer whose work broadly represents an enquiry into questions of ontology and alterity in nature-culture relations.

Interested in the role of aesthetic engagement and imagination in cultural change toward sustainability, her current work is concerned with communicating sustainability through embodied and sensuous engagement.

Located on Canada's west coast, Beth has a special interest in ontological "open-pollination" among settler and indigenous populations, and the possibilities for this informing change in public policy and cultural understandings of "sustainability".

In terms of practice, she has been involved in computer-interactive media since 1995 and has developed works focused on questions of wild agencies, random process, and embodied aesthetic engagement. Her visual art works are exhibited and collected internationally.

Beth works internationally as a consultant and curator in the area of arts, culture and sustainability, and lectures widely. Her writings are published in both academic and popular contexts.

She develops and leads curriculum in Culture and Sustainability, and as an educator is focused on experiential and collaborative learning within a framework of practice-based research.
